Additional Pictures of Olivia

The new addition to the Fleck Family

Amy and I welcomed Olivia Grace Fleck to the world on December 29, 2007. She was delivered at 9:43pm and clocked in at 6 lbs, 12 Oz and 21" Long.

Amy's water broke around 7pm on the 29th, a full 2-days prior to her scheduled C-section. Oddly, we were trying to figure out if she just ahd to pee or if it was her water that broke. We called the doctor and he said that since we had a scheduled C-Section on Monday, to go ahead and go to the hospital to get checked out. If it ended up being nothing, we could still do the section on Monday. Well, after some tests, we found out that her water did break.

She was prepped for a c-section and I was allowed to get in scrubs and be in the room which was cool. And for those of you guys out there, YES I did look over the curtain as she was born and NO I did not collapse. :)

Both Olivia and Amy are doing fantastic. Amy is recovering still recovering somewhat from the anesthesia, but is doing fine. She wanted me to pass this message along to everyone:

Thank you everyone for your continued support and prayers. I know that Olivia is looking forward to meeting all of you. If you want to come to the hospital, it look like I will be here through January 1. Visiting hours are from 11am to 8:30pm. We are at St. Mary's Hospital, 9th floor, room 917.

Olivia is a true grace from God. She is so beautiful.

Until later with better pictures.

Version Update

Amy and I went into the hospital for the Version procedure. After three attempts, baby's butt still did not want to move. Because of that, the decision was made to schedule a C-Section. The c-section will take place on December 31 at 1:30pm at St. Mary's Hospital in downtown Grand Rapids.

In the meantime, I will try to get some additional pictures for you to enjoy. I know many of you have been wondering what the nursery looks like. We have one more set of pictures to take and then we will post the whole transformation. I do have to say that I think it turned out good.

Until next time.

Well, my angel is sleeping under the tree. I had to take this one as she looked so cute. This Christmas will have fewer decorations out because of all of the preperation for the new child. We did, however, want to put the tree and the nativity up to make it feel like Christmas. Here is a picture of the tree:

Well, Amy and I got a call from the doctor's office regarding the baby being breeched. Long story short, we saw the OB/GYN today and decided that the best thing to do for the baby and Amy is to try a version. In a nutshell, the doctors will try to turn the baby by hand. She has an appointment Monday morning at 7am to have the procedure done. The nice thing is that the procedure is done in the hospital so if anything should go wrong, they can do an emergency C-section. The OB said that they do not perform the procedure until the baby is at least 37 weeks along which Amy will be this upcoming Sunday. Apparently the procedure works in about 60-70% of the cases so it's pretty much a flip of the coin. If the baby does not turn, then they would schedule a c-section at 39 weeks which would put it near new year's eve.

In any case, we keep praying that all goes well. My thing is that I want to have the best for Amy and the baby. I'll try to update you all on Monday. Have a good weekend.

Well, it is now 5 weeks and counting. Amy and I went for another ultrasound this past Friday. Unfortunately, no good pictures this time. :( We also discovered that right now, baby is breached. The butt is facing down and the feet and hands are right at baby's face. We'll have to wait and see what the doctor says this Friday. Things can still change in the next few weeks, though. I think the doctor just wanted to know where things were at right now.

On a lighter note, the nursery is almost finished. The trim is FINALLY up!!! Now we just need to do if fill the nail holes, pain the doors, and change the outlets. Then, it's time to move in the furniture. I think now we are reaching a point where we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Hopefully, by this weekend, everything will be complete. When it's done, I'll post some before and after shots. Later!

You can see the face very clearly and a portion of the arm. We ar looking so forward to having thins little one in our lives. I will try to keep this up to date as best as I can. Hopefully you can check back often and find new postings. Thanks Craig & Michelle for the idea to use this. Rock on!
